If you are aspiring plus model and don’t know what fashion model requirements are and steps you need to do to become one. Or you are rejected by one or two agencies this is the guide for you. How to start your fat fashion model calling, what to do and maybe more important – what not to do at the beginning of your career…
1.Motivated, business-oriented, positive
Lucky and genetically blessed in general.
You need to look astonishing on film.
3.Work out, eat healthy food and take good care of yourself.
is pretty easy to acquire: 6 – 16
5.Go to or connect
via phone or mail with some agencies that represent thick models. Mid to large city agencies, close to where you live are the best choices for your requirements.
Nothing expensive or professional. Natural, with no or just a little makeup, full figure, facial smiling and overall appearance shots made by one of your friend or relative with the decent camera will be just fine. Trust me – professional thick model recruiter can see from those snapshots a lot more than you can imagine.
are your next step. When you contact “Big Girl” modeling agency they will usually inform you when open calls are held in the agency. Bring snapshots of yourself, on the back of each, write your name, phone number, measurements and shoe size. Style yourself as you normally would, with no or just a little makeup, normal hair, some cute heels… you know… anything shiny or too sexy will be overkill.
8.You need to be height 5’8’’ – 6’.
I know this is the hardest thing for many aspiring hourglass models. You can be attractive, talented, and beautiful in any way, but you just can’t change your height. And if you are shorter chances that someone hires you are minimal.
all the time on sets, castings and open calls or wherever the booking takes place. Work as the Fat positive fashion model is like any other job in the entertainment industry. If you are a teen interested in a fat positive modeling, prepare yourself to work hard, woke up early, please the customer, go on numerous auditions, endless hours on the sets…
10.If agencies want to charge you
Something like signing fee or push courses better find a new one. The good agency earns only when you work.
11.You don’t need to attend any kind of classes to be a full-time working model – being a fatty or regular girl.
12.AFTER you’ve been signed
Start learning how to: walk, talk, catwalk, runway, body posing, face expressions and all other “need to know things”. Save your time and money in case you’re not material for a fashion model.
What to do if you are not in compliance with requirements and clients are not booking you or agencies reject you. Dealing with it for some girls is hard, but that’s the way every business works. Agents and agencies don’t make requirements – customers and clients do. The reason you are not selected is usually genetic. And if that is a case it is not the end of the world.
You can be a photographer or designer in the fashion industry, there are so many opportunities if you’re rejected as a full figured model, just don’t give up!
